Huawei are expected to confirm the dual-lens P9 today. But what can we expect?
Huawei’s latest flagship device the P9 will be announced later on today, I’m willing to bet my first born on that. The device has been appearing all over the Internet and coupling it with the recent advertisements, we’re pretty sure we know what to expect. Here is all the information we gathered on the Huawei P9 so far.
Camera
It was a horribly kept secret with leaks left right and centre, the entire tech world knows that the Huawei P9 will have a dual-lens camera. Speculations on this started two months ago when Huawei announced a partnership with camera specialists, Leica. So what can we expect from a dual-rear camera set up? Some interesting features of course. The standout rumoured feature is post-capture refocus. Using both cameras you’ll be able to change the focus after you’ve taken a picture. A handy feature that will help Huawei’s Leica camera stand out against megapixel monster cameras.
No doubt a significant part of today’s presentation will be on the camera itself, with a lot of cool features to be announced for the camera.
Specs
Huawei aim to be the number one manufacturer in the world and to do that, you’re going to need some decent specs running things. Huawei will use the internally developed Kirin 950, Mali-T880 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The 950 is an octa-core processor, it’ll be interesting to see whether it’ll be able to handle gaming, as Kirin’s have a bad rep in processing taxing games.
The P9 will run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out the box with internal memory differing with different models. Battery capacity is reportedly a massive 3900 mAh.
Four P
The 5.2-inch screen from the P8 returns and there will be three more models for you to choose from. There will be a budget friendly version like the P8 Lite, a phablet just like the P8 Max and a premium edition with souped up specs. More RAM (most likely 4GB) and much more internal storage. The premium edition will also most likely sport the Kirin 955.
Launch date, pricing and unveiling of the P9 will occur today at 2pm. Stay with What Mobile for the announcement.
