Applications are the reason why we love our smartphones so much. So why not recruit some new ones to get you through the week! Here’s our top smartphone apps for July 18th-24th!

Prisma (Android and iOS)

Price: Free

An exciting first entry in our top smartphone apps for July 18th-24th. The mega popular photo altering app finally makes its way to Android after a successful and overwhelming debut on iOS last month. Using cloud based servers Prisma breaks down your pictures and integrates an art style that does more than simply add a filter. At the moment it can be quite laggy due to a high volume of users, but when it works, it’s amazing.

Detour (Android and iOS)

Price: Free (in-app purchases)

Exploring a new city can be daunting and boring if you don’t know exactly what you’re looking at. In cities such as London where history is seeped in every cobblestone, a tour guide can bring the best out of your wander around London town. Detour has preinstalled audio guides vocalising plans of revolution that have taken place in Clerkenwell, by some guy called Lenin.

Music Maker Jam (Android , iOS and Windows Phone)

Price: Free (in-app purchases)

Want to be the next Diplo but can’t get your head around those daunting synthesisers? Music Maker Jam gets you started with a simple eight-channel mixer and a helpful tutorial going over the basics. You can combine samples from hundreds of categories and thousands of loops. The option to include your own vocal is also there. Your creation can then be uploaded to the Music Maker Jam community, if you’re feeling confident.

Spaces (Android and iOS)

Price: Free

Google+ is one notable miss by the big G, failing to really set the world alight as a social media platform, only to be mischievously used by big companies. With Spaces, Google are focusing on tight relationships, making Spaces an exclusive social media platform. Instead of adding all 6 billion people in the world, add your best mates and family members to share videos, links and photos.

RunGo (Android and iOS)

Price: Free (in-app purchases)

The running bug is a real disease and not one you want to get rid of because of its obvious benefits to you physically and mentally. It can get quite hard to sustain the bug, with RunGo you can keep things fresh with new routes and trails. Pre-installed routes are available giving you sat-nav instructions through your earphones as you run through a part of the city you’ve never been before.
