Pokémon Go data deleted? Here’s how to fix it

A lot of players have seen their Pokémon Go data deleted as developer Niantic launched a new update to fix the incredibly buggy iOS and Android app. 

The update was released over the weekend by Niantic, with the intention to fix bugs, remove features that crashed the game, and give it a little polish. Unfortunately many fans have been reporting on social media how they’ve lost all of their progress on the augmented reality game.

Such a sight is in the same league as seeing your child go missing from the swings. But don’t worry too much, Niantic says “it remains safe and intact.”

Currently it only seems to affect iOS users. When logging in with the iOS version of the app, Pokémon Go took cookies from Safari, retrieving log in details from any Google account signed in there.

So if you’re like me and you like to have an email for gaming, you’re probably not logged into, but rather your professional email for jobs.

Pokémon Go data deleted? Retrieve your data now

First of all log out of the current account you’re in by going to settings > sign out. Sign in again using the Gmail and password you originally used for Pokémon Go. The app may not prompt you to sign in with a different account at first, just keep doing it, or uninstall and reinstall the app to bring up the prompt.

If that doesn’t work, we’re going to have to go deeper. Go to Safari, bring up Gmail and sign out if you’re logged into your account there.

That should do it, you can’t take back that swear filled tweet (not that you want to), but you sure as hell can get back to evolving that useless Magikarp to a powerful Gyarados.
