The Amazon Fire Phone could be finished, with no indications of a direct replacement in the future.
It’s taken a while but Amazon has finally sold it’s last allotment of Fire Phone devices, with the final batch running out at the end of August in the United States. The device hasn’t been available in the UK for quite some time already and the company is making no plans to replenish stock. Effectively, they cut their losses.
The Amazon Fire Phone originally launched in 2014 to much fanfare but was a monumental flop, with the face-tracking screen gimmick failing to captivate the market. Fire OS limitations and a high price-tag put off the majority of Android users, who expected something a little more open. With Amazon now laying off a large portion of the team responsible.
