Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre creates an Aston Martin smartwatch

Whilst the wearables market is currently entering a period of rapid growth, with new models and designs popping up on a monthly basis, there’s still a lot of work to be done. Watches are very personal items, and before purchasing one the consumer needs to be sure that the product is absolutely suited to them. It’s a good thing then that Jaeger-LeCoultre have created a $29,500 smartwatch to control your Aston Martin.

What do you buy the man who has everything? A James Bond gadget, essentially. The Jaeger-LeCoultre  AMVOX2 Transponder is compatible with most new Aston Martin models, and allows you to look even cooler whilst operating one, if that were even possible. With one press of the left of the watch crystal you can unlock your car – with a press of the right you can lock it again. It also allows you to flash the headlights, presumably to make it easier to find in a car park (when it gets lost amongst the unending sea of other brand new Aston Martins). Should you decide to sell your Aston and purchase a newer model, it will still be compatible with that one too, although how you pair it to your vehicle we do not know (and probably never will, unless someone very generous from the Aston Martin plant would care to provide a donation to an underprivileged tech journalist).

Of course, being made by one of the finest timepiece  AMVOX2 Transponder is also a remarkable watch. Crafted from titanium with a calfskin leather strap, it boasts a black satin dial, 280-piece movement and 28,800 movements per hour. And for the price of a new (non-Aston) car, you’d certainly expect nothing less.
