The much rumoured new smartphone from OnePlus is unofficially confirmed as the OnePlus X by CEO Carl Pei.
OnePlus CEO Carl Pei posted an ambiguous picture on his Weibo account (micro blogging site). The picture depicted a colourful ‘X’ emblazoned on a city map, resembling a street map app. Pei playfully wrote with the picture “dissatisfied[?] run a X.” Which is really making it quite obvious now.
OnePlus have also sent out invites for a launch event in India on October 12th. Which will be hosted by the co-founder Pete Lau and Vikas Agarwall, general of OnePlus India. The event is titled as ‘The Next Big Step” further consolidating that this will be an announcement for the OnePlus X, but OnePlus have yet to confirm this.
The OnePlus X is rumoured to be a cheaper and more “lifestyle” phone than OnePlus’s previous releases, with lower specs. More news will most definitely follow on October 12th.
