We had heard it had been abandoned in favour of a full Windows 8 tablet, but now there’s yet more speculation that a Nokia Windows RT tablet is imminent.
According to The Verge, Nokia plan to unveil the tablet at a launch event in New York next month, with the date expected to be September 26. The tablet supposedly features Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor — which means it’ll be running Windows RT and definitely not Windows 8.
It’s expected that the tablet will launch with AT&T in the US, and will include LTE support for a data connection on the go.
Photos of the tablet have also leaked, adding fuel to the rumour. The Chinese site Digiwo posted photos of the alleged photos, and they appear consistent with the cancelled Windows RT tablet that featured an Nvidia chip.
That Nvidia-based Windows RT tablet supposedly featured a special battery-equipped keyboard cover that Nokia had developed, but it’s unknown whether that will be unveiled alongside the new tablet.
