It had widely been rumoured that Nokia was planning on holding an event in New York City later this month, but those rumours have since been put to rest with many claiming that Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia’s devices business has pushed back the event significantly.
Now Nokia has officially confirmed that it is planning an event on October 22, although details are scarce, with no information on location or even an inkling of what may be announced.
If the sand dunes are anything to go by, Nokia may be choosing a more exotic location to unveil its new device. We also speculate that it will have two devices to show off, both much larger than its current offering of smartphones.
One is the Lumia 1520 which is the 6-inch phablet that was reportedly planned for this month, whilst the other is the Nokia Sirius Windows RT tablet.
We have reached out to Nokia for comment, but you shouldn’t expect that it has much to giveaway regarding this mysterious event.
