Apple may choose to upstage Nokia’s big Nokia World comeback in Abu Dhabi with reports from AllThingsD pointing to an October 22 event for the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2.

Whilst Apple is no stranger from stealing other company’s announcements, it’ll be an interesting battle with Nokia set to unveil its very first Windows RT tablet and phablet, whilst Apple is set to bump up its existing line of products.

Whilst we already know that Apple is prepping some iPad announcements, with the iPad Mini set to get a Retina screen whilst the original iPad will be getting a slight cosmetic change, AllThingsD also reports that Mac will play heavily at the event later this month — with the Mac Pro that we saw earlier this year at WWDC officially being revealed.

Of course this all remains as speculation at the moment, but we’ve seen many leaks which point to refreshed iPads and Macs.

The late October event may also be the staging ground for the next version of Mac OS X, officially called OS X Mavericks. We got our first look at Mavericks back at WWDC earlier this year, but with its numerous betas going out to developers in recent months, it’s likely that we’ll see the finished product and a release date announced at the event.
