Kik and BlackBerry have been locked in a legal battle over their respective messaging services for the past few years, and this week has brought a resolution.
The fuss was originally kicked up in 2010 when BlackBerry claimed patent infringements had been made by Kik concerning its BBM service. This had to do with the cross-platform messaging feature. However both Kik and BlackBerry settled this week outside of court. Details on the agreement were not made public, but given that Kik is currently towering over BlackBerry with 90 million users to its 60, we can guess who ended up doing better.
Meanwhile, BlackBerry is struggling to get BBM across to other platforms, though it has recently promised that it is still committed to doing so.
