EA finds new CEO in Andrew Wilson

EA Games has at last named a new CEO to head up its business, following the departure of John Riccitiellio earlier this year. Former EA Sports head Andrew Wilson has been crowned king, beating out the likes of Peter Moore.

He takes the job just as the company plans to move into the next-generation of game consoles, which starts in November with the launch of both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. EA has however made increasingly aggressive moves into the  mobile app business – it recently launched the hugely popular sequel to Plants vs Zombies, Plants vs Zombies 2, exclusively on iOS and free to play. That should be rolling out to other platforms in the near future, along with the likes of hugely-anticipated apps like Peggle 2. Expect to see even more from the company in this sector with the release of the new iPhones this Friday.

House starts his job at EA Games on a healthy $800,000 salary, and replaces interim CEO Larry Probst, who has been overseeing management in Riccitiellio’s absence. He noted that he was “deeply honoured and humbled” by the appointment. We’re sure we would be too on that kind of cash.
