Apple create Twitter account for customer service

Apple has launched a Twitter account dedicated to providing customer support.

As of 1pm today Apple’s new Twitter account, Apple Support, went live and has already started tweeting tips. Apple Support has been busy with over 250 tweets and gained 30,000 followers. Apple already has Twitter accounts for specific products like Apple Music and iTunes. Apple Support marks the first centralised social media feed for the American technology giants. It shows Apple’s willingness to put themselves out there, even if it means getting trolled and being inundated with questions (which is what it’s for).

Apple are playing catch up as many major companies have already utilised Twitter for customer service issues. Twitter has been building features to aid companies to do so. Recently Twitter removed the 140 word limit for direct messages and allows links and photos to be sent.

Apple’s increasing presence on social media is a massive sign of confidence. Executives are also tweeting more. Let’s hope some ‘accidental’ leaks happen more often through them.
