The launch of the Acer CloudMobile S500 has been delayed for close to a month but it’s been revealed that the Android smartphone is now on sale in the UK, with an asking price of just £290 (inc. VAT).
The Acer CloudMobile S500 caught everyone’s eye earlier this year when it was first announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and has gone on to win a clutch of awards, including the iF Design Award 2012, Computex Best Design 2012, and Computex Design & Innovation 2012.
The Acer CloudMobile S500 is a 4.3-inch IPS display smartphone with an impressive 1280 x 720-pixel resolution. The use of Zero Air Gap technology minimises light reflection, making for sharper images no matter whether you’re indoors or out.
Powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and backed with 1GB of RAM, this Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone offers up 8GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD slot for adding extra storage, with up to 32GB cards supported.
The 8-Megapixel camera comes with auto-focus and LED Flash and is capable of handling Full HD video recording. Acer is also claiming the front-facing camera is also capable of handling HD video with ease.
Expansys is the first online retailer to take the Acer CloudMobile S500 and is offering the handset for £290 (inc. VAT) SIM free.
