The Sony Xperia Z4, or Sony Xperia Z3+ as it’s known in the UK, can now be pre-ordered from Carphone Warehouse. Sony’s latest high-end smartphone will officially go on sale on June 26.

The Sony Xperia Z3+ is available to buy in black and white, with a green version exclusive to Carphone Warehouse. Prices start from £31.99 a month with a £59.99 upfront cost.

Sony Xperia Z4 (Z3+) specs

The Sony Xperia Z3+ is called the Sony Xperia Z4 in Japan, but Z3+ is a more suitable as the upgrades don’t really set it apart from the regular Z3.

What Mobile managed to grab an early hands-on with a pre-production model of the new device. It sports a similar rectangular shape with an all-glass body that makes it feel more premium. The screen measures 5.2-inches and we had no problem holding the device in our hands. Weighing 144g and measuring 6.9mm, the Sony Xperia Z3+ is lighter and thinner than the Z3.

The slimmer size hasn’t come without compromise, however. Sony has cut battery size down from 3,100mAh to 2,900mAh. That means it doesn’t take as much juice as the Xperia Z3. It does support quick charge and Sony claims you can get up to two days use from a single charge.

The 20.9MP rear camera boasts Superior Auto+, which Sony claims can improve shots in all conditions. It’s a decent camera with a fast shutter, but it did make the device overheat quite a bit.

Performance wise, the Sony Xperia Z3+ has 32GB of internal storage – double that of the regular Z3. It also has a Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM beneath its shell.

Sony Xperia Z4 (Z3+) availability

Buy an Xperia Z3+ from Carphone Warehouse and you’ll also get a high-res audio bundle from Sony worth £275. This includes a pair of headphones, a free three-month subscription to music streaming service Tidal and six free downloadable albums.

The Xperia Z3+ was unveiled on May 26. It joins the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact in Sony’s flagship range and will go on sale in various global markets this month.
