Last week Sony announced a Compact version of the Xperia Z1.This week the company is going the other way with the six-inch Xperia T2 Ultra and its dual SIM variant. It’s a successor to the Xperia T released in the back end of 2012.

Designed for the Chinese, Middle Eastern, African and Asia Pacific markets, the Xperia T2 Ultra is a mid-range viewing platform. It comes with all the Sony-made movie and music apps you’ll find in the Xperia Z1, allowing access to services like Movies and Music Unlimited.

While the processor hasn’t been outright named, Sony did confirm that it’s a quad-core 1.4 GHz chipset clocked at 1GB of RAM. There’s also 8GB of internal storage.

That six-inch screen is an HD Triluminos display, meaning it uses Sony’s backlighting tech for richer colours. There’s also a 13-megapixel camera, which isn’t bad considering the mid-range target. App-wise it even includes a Portrait Retouch app for you to perfect those selfies.

The dual SIM allows for all the usual SIM-switching features, including custom ringtones for even setting.

While Sony didn’t confirm a specific price point, it’s disclaimers for all its ‘best-in-class’ phrases were based around handsets priced at ‚¬400 or less. As for a specific release date? The company didn’t confirm. They did supply a picture with The Amazing Spider-Man in it, though.
