Xperia E1 announced, focuses on loud sound, also has dual SIM

Clearly not happy with just the one smartphone announcement today, Sony has lifted the lid on the Xperia E1, a four-inch handset.

This is a mid-tier handset that’s focussed on delivering great sound quality for all you music lovers. The company claims that the built-in 100Db speaker can block out a motorcycle. That’s something we’ll be eager to put to the test.

The Xperia E1 will also include a ClearAudo + mode to allow you to tinker with your sound and get it pitch-perfect. It also focuses on user experience, with shake-to-shuffle controls and a dedicated Walkman button. You’ll even get 30 days of Sony’s Music Unlimited streaming service for free to try it all out.

In terms of specs, it boasts a 1.2GHz dual core processor with 512 MB RAM and 4GB of storage. That’s noticeably below the T1, then, but we guess audio isn’t as processor-heavy as a huge HD screen. Oh, there’s a dual SIM version too.

We don’t have details on a price just yet but Sony has confirmed to us that the handset will be here in Q1 2014 so expect it in the next two months.

You can find out more about the phone here.
