Xiaomi’s new Redmi Note 2 smartphone is a bestseller.

No hyperbole, just fact. The Redmi Note 2 smartphone sold 800,000 units in just 12 hours last Sunday in the company’s home country of China, or so the mobile phone manufacturer reports. Xiaomi’s ‘flash sale’ tactics appear to be working, given the level of interest shown so far.

Overview

With an impressively large 5.5 inch display, the Note 2 is a high-end smartphone driven by a powerful 64-bit octa-core 2.2GHz processor. It comes with 2GB of RAM, which is a little small for all that processing power, and either 16 or 32GB of hard drive file storage. An extra 32GB of hard drive can be added thanks to a MicroSD slot. The battery is a powerful mid-to-high end 3060mAH model, and can handle fast charging.

The cameras hold up well, with 13 megapixels from the rear camera and 5 megapixels in the front-facing one – more than enough for Skype or selfies. The camera also supports phase detection auto focusing, making it easy to point and snap.

The next flash sale for the Redmi Note 2 will be on the 24th of August.
