Xbox One hardware issues? Get a free game

Nothing sucks more than dropping several hundreds of pounds or dollars, whatever your currency, on something just to find out it’s completely broken and as much use as a doorstop. Unfortunately when many Xbox One owners got their game consoles home, that was the situation they found themselves in, with hardware problems plaguing many of the consoles sold.

The typical problem being described by users seems to be with the optical drive, with it either eating the disc or rejecting it altogether – either way it makes it impossible to play games from optical media. Thankfully Microsoft has acknowledged the problem and promised to replace all the consoles that are having an issue, and in a statement to Polygon even promised a little bit more.

While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game. We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios.

If you’re unsure on which games are published by Microsoft Studios, then your choice of free game consists of Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Sony of Rome and Zoo Tycoon.
