Here’s a bit of a weird one. Recently we’ve been hearing a lot of rumours that Google will be swapping Samsung for Asus when it comes to the production of the Nexus 10. But now it seems like, come next year’s updates, the company won’t use Asus for its third-generation Nexus 7.
Digitimes is claiming that Asus is currently making an effort to expand its line of tablets to compensate for potentially losing the Nexus contract for 2014. Recently we’ve seen Asus offer its own products in the form of the PadFone and Transformer Pad.
So where would Google go instead? The obvious guess is LG, which is currently working on the Google Nexus 5 smartphone as a follow up to last year’s Nexus 4. Apparently this may well be the case, with Google looking to use LG’s display technology on the third-generation Nexus 7
Asus’ most recent collaboration was the latest Nexus 7. Google’s partners on the Nexus range seem to be working their way up the form factors before dropping out completely. It could well be that Samsung no longer works with the company in a matter of months, leaving just LG and Asus to reap the benefits.
