Surface Pro gets price cut, misses UK

Microsoft has gone and cut the Surface Pro’s price by around $100 in the US, Canada, Hong Kong and Taiwan — but the UK will still have to pay the same price.

After the company offered a 30 percent price cut to the Surface RT the company is continuing its efforts to shift its vast inventory of Surface tablets after it took a $900 million write-down last quarter.

It’s not known why the UK isn’t included in the price cut, with the Windows 8 tablet still costing a rather steep £719 on Microsoft’s online store.

The Surface Pro only arrived in the UK in May, so we might still receive a discount but may have to wait a while.

If the Surface Pro is discounted in your region though, and you’re hoping to get your hands on one whilst it’s cheaper, then you might want to act quickly as the offer is only around until August 29.

Microsoft is already said to be prepping the Surface RT and Pro follow-ups, with Ballmer & Co hopefully not making the mistake it did with this generation — by making more than the company can shift.
