One of the biggest advantages of the new Microsoft Surface Pro was the increase in battery life thanks to the new Intel Haswell processor inside. On stage Microsoft’s Panos Panay touted a 75 per cent increase in the battery life when compared to the previous model, but that wasn’t always the case, as many reviewers found. In the latest firmware update to hit the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 though, the battery life may have improved even more.

In Anandtech’s battery life test, the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 originally achieved just over six and a half hours worth of battery life, but upon redoing the test with the latest firmware, the Surface Pro 2 clocked in an impressive 8.3 hours before dying. The Verge also saw a substantial improvement, with a 20 per cent bump in battery life.
