We’ve been hearing about it for a few weeks now, but the Sony Xperia Z1 mini is finally official. Well, it is in Japan at least.

It goes on sale in Sony’s home region as the Xperia Z1 f. Obviously, it’s a scaled down version of its bigger brother, with the same glass casing design that protects it from water and dust. The display is a 3.7 inch screen that runs at 720p. As for specs, it’s expectedly top of the range, with a Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip clocked at 2.2 GHz, complete with 2 gigs of RAM and an Adreno 330 graphics engine.

Most impressive perhaps is the 20.7 megapixel camera that carries over from the Z1. That’s complete with all the modes and features you’d find on the original model, too. Storage is a t 16 GB with microSD storage available too. The whole thing runs on a 2300 mAh battery.

We’ve come to expect phones to be announced and then put on sale within the month, but the Z1 f won’t be out until December. No word on other markets right now, but seeing as we’ve been treated to both the Z1 and Z1 Ultra over here it wouldn’t surprise us to see the f/mini makes its way here too.
