Samsung has upgraded its Samsung Apps store with a fresh design and a new name; Samsung Galaxy Apps.
As you can probably tell by its title, the Korean manufacturer is putting the focus on exclusive content for its Galaxy devices.
Consequently, anyone who owns a Galaxy smartphone or tablet can now access the new app store.
Many of you may be wondering if it’s worth it, especially in comparison to the Google Play Store?
According to Samsung, the Galaxy Apps Store features “hundreds of exclusive apps” that are designed specifically for Galaxy devices.
These Galaxy exclusives take advantage of Samsung’s SDK to work with features like multi-windowing, the S Pen and the Samsung ‘home appliance’ network.
In terms of design, the Galaxy Apps store has a cleaner look to its predecessor and conveniently organises apps by popularity and date – there is also a section that highlights Galaxy Specials.
Following, its decline in profits for the the third straight quarter, it is thought that Samsung is looking into its own software via its new app store to boost weak demand. However, it will still find it hard to compete with Google’s massive Play Store.
It is thought that the store is likely to become more prominent in the future as Samsung pushes its new Tizen devices, including the Samsung Z, which is due to launch n Russia later this year.
