The Samsung Galaxy S III Mini is set to be announced, Samsung head of communications JK Shin has confirmed. The arrival of a smaller and more compact version of the top selling Samsung Galaxy SIII is an attempt to widen the appeal of the Galaxy brand further.

Samsung is set to launch what is believed to be a 4-inch version of its multi-million selling Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S III. It’s unknown at this time if the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini will sport the same quad-core processor and 8-Megapixel camera as found in the current Galaxy S III but with only a few hours until the launch we’ll soon know.

It’s been revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini will be small but it won’t be lacking in features. Shin is quoted as saying it would have a “full form factor“ and not be an entry-level device. He believes that in Europe there is a place for a smaller device that packs in the latest cutting-edge tech.

With that in mind, could we be looking at a Samsung Galaxy S III Mini with 4G LTE built-in? With EE having laid claim to the larger Samsung Galaxy S III LTE version it would make a suitable variant for another network to pick up.

What do you think, do we need the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini, or is Samsung in fear of watering down the brand with too many variants of the same device? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
