Samsung Galaxy A8 2016 renders leak online

Twitter leaker OnLeaks has revealed press renders of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A8 2016 edition.

It’s been over a year since the Samsung Galaxy A8 last went on the market and we’ve been waiting to when the successor would start doing the rounds online. Twitter authority @OnLeaks has today acquired some internal renders of handset which, given his track record of revealing things ahead of launch, means there’s likely a lot of truth in the leak.

The Samsung Galaxy A series has always been an interesting one, as the phone is mid-range yet the physical design would leave you believing otherwise.

Comparing it to last years rather square model, things seem to be a lot more curved this time round. The images show a device wrapped in all-glass much like the premium Galaxy S series, with a machine cut metal edge providing some contrasting trim. The version depicted is black in colour, though we’re sure a white version will also be available too.

Samsung Galaxy A8 2016 benchmarks are also out there

For those of you unaware, the device hardware has also leaked thanks to various posts on benchmarking sites. Both Geekbench and GFXBench have the same listed specifications, meaning it’s pretty likely that the handset we’re seeing is legit.

Inside is a Samsung Exynos 7420 processor which you may remember from the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge; both of which were flagship devices at the time. Pair this with 3GB RAM and you have a pretty powerful handset that should be able to comfortably sit at the top of the mid-range.

The screen size has apparently decreased from 5.8-inches to 5.1-inches but retains the 1080p Full HD resolution, meaning that it’s actually got a denser panel than last years model. The 5.1-inch screen puts it in the same category size as the Galaxy S6, which some say is the perfect size for a handset.

The rear camera sensor is a hefty 16 megapixel, while the front snapper is 5 megapixels. This is identical to last years model and it will be interesting to see if Samsung have swapped out the sensors for something better or at least tweaked the camera software.

Other than this, it will ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and the latest TouchWiz user interface and include 32GB internal storage (likely expandable).
