Samsung’s chairman, Lee Kun-Hee, is now conscious after being in a come for two weeks. The 72-year-old awoke on Sunday in the Samsung Medical Centre, Seoul where his doctors had been treating him.

Those doctors state that the diverse stimulation is working for him, and that they consider his condition stable. On May 10th Lee complained of difficulty breathing and was taken to a hospital near his home. He proceeded to have a cardiac arrest and doctors had to perform CPR.

What’s particularly remarkable about Lee’s recovery are the circumstances of his awakening. Apparently, his family were seated around his hospital bed on Sunday watching a baseball game between the Samsung Lions and the Nexen Heroes. The Lee family went crazy when the Lions’ veteran slugger and Olympic gold medallist Lee Seung-Yeop hit a late home run in an 18-2 blowout victory, upon which Lee Kun-Hee suddenly opened his eyes.

Doctors said of Lee’s status, “The prognosis for his cognitive function is hopeful given the extent of his neurological recovery. His heart, lungs and other organs are functioning normally.”
