BlackBerry’s new QWERTY offering, the Q10, reportedly sold out at Selfridges, and Carphone Warehouse has ordered more stock in anticipation.
The device is BlackBerry’s second offering running its new operating system, BlackBerry 10, launched January 30th with the company’s flagship, the touch screen Z10.
The lower specced Q10 features a QWERTY keyboard, traditionally BlackBerry’s slice of the market in its appeal to business people.
Offered exclusively at Selfridges’ originally, the Q10 smartphone went on sale on April 26th, and became the department store’s fastest ever selling consumer electronics product, Selfridges’ said.
Initial stock sold out in stores within two hours, with new stock being delivered to keep up with demand, it said.
The store said pre-orders for the device saw more than 30,000 page views of its order page within the first two days of the announcement on April 24th.
Meanwhile, What Mobile’s sister news publication, Mobile News, reported that Carphone Warehouse had ordered more stock to satisfy the anticipated high demand for the device, ahead of its release across all stores on April 30th, on all major mobile networks from £33 a month or £579.95 SIM free.
Stay tuned for What Mobile’s review of the Q10.
