OnePlus will host the OnePlus 3 launch event in VR and will giveaway their new Loop VR headset.

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei made the announcement through a blog post, there will only be 30,000 Loop VR headsets available and the Samsung Gear VR competitor will only be available through the OnePlus website.

It’s not entirely free as you’ll have to pay a minimum shipping cost of £2.99/US $4.99. If you’re really impatient you can get your hands on the Loop VR in 1-3 days for £9.99/US $17.63. If you spend over a £100/US $100, you qualify for free shipping.

A quick sign up can be done by being logged into Facebook. Currently PayPal is the only method of payment and of course with OnePlus’ popularity, ordering one can be a pain due to fellow tech heads bombarding the site.

We’re trying to order one but we’re currently on an infinite loading screen at the time of writing.

If you want to get your hands on one, here is the portal for those ordering from the UK and US. You better be quick, they will go fast!

OnePlus 3 release date

Loop

The OnePlus Loop VR will only start shipping on June 6th. It gives an an indication that the OnePlus 3 will be released on the same day or shortly after. The OnePlus X was announced via virtual reality and it was the first launch event in VR.

Carl Pei is seemingly keen on making VR device launches a tradition as those who order the Loop VR will have a front row ‘seat’ to the launch, which will be on a VR space station called ‘The Loop’. Those that attend the VR event will be able to order the OnePlus 3 before anyone else.
