We heard rumours of Lenovo dropping the Moto X branding for their next line of flagships. It’s pretty much confirmed now with Lenovo’s latest trademark.

The filing applies to a list of products including “mobile phones, smartphones and accessories therefore, namely battery chargers and adapters.” We don’t know about you guys, but that sounds like smartphone launch preparations to us.

We learned about Lenovo dropping the Moto X moniker last week from famed leakster Evan Blass, who tweeted “goodbye, Moto X; Hello, Moto Z.”

HelloMotoHK shared what looks like an invite for Lenovo’s unveiling event in San Francisco. The invite states the event will be held on the 9th of June 2016. It corroborates with the teaser video (below) Lenovo posted last week, which was titled ‘Moto 06.09.16.’

Moto Z Style & Moto Z Play

We saw the Moto X Style and Moto X Play last year, but this year we’re getting the Z series. VentureBeat reported the new Z series devices will have modular backplates which can be attached to speakers and camera lenses, in the same vein as the LG G5. But the kicker is the Moto Z devices are rumoured to be bale to do this without restarting the entire device.

We’re getting close to the reveal date, June 6th. Expect more news before then.
