Twitter wants you to tweet in the dark

Twitter has been spotted trialling their very own night mode for the Android version of the Twitter app.

Night mode seems to be the new fad of the tech world, with plenty of notable names developing a night mode feature to help your circadian rhythms. Apple has already done it with iOS 9.3 and Google are previewing it in Android N 3.

In plain speak it’ll help all us tech addicts who refuse to put their smartphone/tablet down when heading to bed. It’s a bad habit, everyone knows it, so now technology has adapted to help us. Hooray.

9to5Google reported Twitter are developing night mode in an early alpha version of Twitter. The feature will work similarly to the iOS night mode and switch on automatically at a designated time. Once activated white backgrounds and panels will turn dark blue to make it easier on your eyes for night time viewings.

Night mode for Twitter will come with an overhaul of the design of the Twitter app, let’s just hope it isn’t as drastic as Instagram’s. It remains to be seen whether it’s completely necessary for Twitter to include night mode as Android N is nearing with night mode already included. But it’s respectable for Twitter to do this as they’ll most likely release their update first, and bringing it to loads of devices that probably can’t support Android N anyway. Also let’s also not forget how long it takes for Android updates to be pushed out.
