November sales – PS4 outsells One in US, but Microsoft sells faster

It’s been a little under a month since the Xbox One released in the US, finally ushering in a new generation of consoles. This week stat-tracking group NPD has revealed the first sales figures for both Microsoft’s system and the PlayStation 4 – which went on sale the week prior – during November.

Unsurprisingly Sony’s seven day lead has given it the edge. NPD reports that Sony outsold the One in Microsoft’s home turf, but that’s not quite the whole story. Sony didn’t offer a sales figure of its own for US units sold, but Microsoft revealed it has shifted 909,132 units in its short time on sale. That works out to 101K sold a day, placing the One as the fastest selling console in the US.

Microsoft also noted that its console outsold the 360 by roughly three times as much, and software sales are at about 2.1 games per console.

So pretty much an even-handed start in the States for November, then. How will 2014 shape up for the two giants?
