Another Samsung Galaxy Note 7 leak with the phablet expected to be launched next week. Guidelines of the iris scanner reveal a lot of hoops to go through, to get it working.

Pictures of the Note 7’s interface has surfaced giving us a first hand look at what we’re going to be scrolling through once we get our hands on it. It’s all TouchWizzy and not so surprising, but what is particularly juicy is the disclaimer outlining the functionality of the iris scanner.

The following should be considered if you’re thinking about grabbing a Note 7. The iris scanner may not work with the following situations:

  • When wearing sunglasses (fair enough), glasses, colour contact lenses and circular contact lenses
  • When the iris is hidden by narrow or puffy eyes
  • When eye surgery is performed such as LASIK, LASEK, intraocular lens implants or iris scar treatment is performed
  • when your cornea is cloudy or you have a disease that affects your irises

The disclaimer went on to list conditions where you should be using the iris scanner, like dry places and nowhere in direct sunlight. It seems to be a lot of trouble to use, but we can’t judge on its functionality as of yet.

Note 7 leak reveals interface

The Note 7 leak also revealed the user interface which looks like any iteration of TouchWiz. But there seems to be improvement, the app drawer is now alphabetically ordered by default and icons got a revamp in design.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is expected to be only slightly bigger than the S7 Edge with a 5.7-inch QHD display. Being a Galaxy Note, tradition tells us it will be have the power advantage over the S7 Edge, possibly with the Snapdragon 821 and 6GB of RAM. Only the OnePlus 3 features 6GB of RAM out of the main flagship devices.

Other rumours point to the Note 7 featuring the same 12 megapixel rear-facing camera as see on the S7 Edge. The 5 megapixel selfie shooter is also expected to make an appearance.
