No sooner has Nokia produced the world’s ultimate cameraphone with its 41-Megapixel Symbian Belle-powered Nokia 808 PureView, the latest word from Nokia HQ is that its powerful PureView technology will also be coming to Nokia Lumia Windows Phones very soon.
With Nokia Windows Phones such as the Lumia 900, Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 winning plenty of critical acclaim but struggling to achieve comparable sales, Nokia is firmly planning what new features and functionality it can add to the range to help its Lumia handsets achieve their full potential.
Speaking to Neowin, Richard Kerris, Nokia’s VP Global Head of Worldwide Developer Relations, confirmed that PureView will be coming to Nokia Lumia Windows Phones “very soon”, and also reassured Nokia’s Windows Phone 7 users that Nokia has plenty of plans in the pipeline for their handsets as well.
With the news that Windows Phone 8 is on the way later this year and that it won’t be available as an update for current Windows Phone 7 handsets, this will certainly come as welcome news to all the early-adopters that welcomed the launch of Nokia’s Windows Phones when they were released at the end of 2011.
And with Nokia’s 808 PureView effortlessly putting all rival cameraphones to shame, the news that a stylish Lumia Windows Phone packing a market-leading PureView camera is coming soon is sure to turn even the most ardent iOS and Android fan green with envy.
Would a PureView-equipped Nokia Lumia be the handset to make you convert to Windows Phone, or do you think Nokia’s PureView is overkill for a smartphone camera? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
