Despite Android 4.1 Jelly Bean coming soon and devices such as the Google Nexus 7 already enjoying the new OS, some smartphone owners won’t even be getting an update to the previous 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich version.
HTC has recently announced its Android 4.0 update schedule and unfortunately its HTC Desire HD is being left out in the cold, with no updates on the way to improve upon its existing Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.
HTC was quoted as saying “After extensive testing, we’ve determined that the current version of HTC Sense with Android provides customers with the best experience on the HTC Desire HD.
“When we consider new versions of software, we weigh a number of factors, but ultimately the customer experience on the product is the deciding factor.”
This will come as a disappointment to anyone that was hoping to enjoy all the benefits of Android 4.0 on the excellent 4.3-inch Desire HD, particularly as 4.1 Jelly Bean is now due for release on other HTC handsets.
