Nexus Marlin AnTuTu benchmark finally leaks

We’ve seen plenty leaks about Nexus Sailfish, now Nexus Marlin AnTuTu benchmarks have finally been leaked. A spec sheet that’s similar to its little brother.

The fresh Nexus Marlin AnTuTu benchmark provides us with a better idea on one of Google’s next devices. Famed leakster Steve Hemmerstoffer provided the leak, which originally came from Chinese social media site, Weibo. We’re not far from Google’s official launch of Marlin and Sailfish as it has been rumoured for a while an Autumn release is on the cards. Recent rumours are pointing to an October release.

Nexus Marlin AnTuTu benchmark looks familiar…

Looking at the spec sheet you would be forgiven for thinking it was the Sailfish spec sheet we reported on before. In tow is a Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM, exactly what was leaked on Sailfish’s AnTuTu benchmark. Strangely the camera is also identical, with an 8-megapixel selfie camera and 13-megapixel rear-facing shooter.

There is difference in panel quality, as the benchmark reports a 2560 x 1440 QHD screen. With the quality at 2K we’re expecting the Marlin to be the bigger of the two, possibly sporting a 5.5-inch screen. Google’s current flagship the Nexus 6P has a 5.5-inch 2K screen, so it won’t be surprising to see it on Marlin. Unless Google decides to shake things up by upgrading to 4K. Another expected difference is a bigger battery capacity due to the larger real estate from Marlin.

Currently there has been no official confirmation from the Big G itself, but it is more than certain both Marlin and Sailfish will run Android Nougat out of the box. If both devices prove to such similar specs, it’d be a breaking in smartphone tradition for Google, as manufacturers usually lower the spec for the secondary device. People who like small phones like a bit of power too!
