Your Monday morning cheer-up: An HTC One M8 Mini could be on its way

It might not be the most surprising revelation in the world, but it’s certainly reassuring to hear – the HTC One M8 could soon be getting a Mini edition.

It’s something HTC did with the original One, shrinking its display from (in hindsight a not-actually-that-large) 4.7 inches to 4.3 and slimming it down by a whole 0.08 mm. With the increasing emphasis on larger screens and the rise of the phablet in recent years, the One Mini proved popular with those who value portability and ergonomics over a chuffing enormous screen. With the One M8’s display measuring in at an even larger 5 inches (still not that big), it’s hardly a shock that HTC could be giving it the same treatment.

The reason we know that this handset might be a reality, besides common sense, is thanks to the website of Swedish carrier Telia. On a page listing HD Voice-capable handsets they’ve written both ‘M8’ and ‘M8 Mini’. They’ve since removed both of the handsets from the list, but the internet never forgets.

What do you think? Would you buy a Mini version of the M8, or do you feel like the device’s greatest strength lies in its brilliant display? Make sure to check out our thorough review of the handset in May’s issue of What Mobile Magazine, available nationwide from 10th April.
