It’s Nokia and Apple day today, right? Or did we forget something? If you’re keeping track, then you’ll actually realise that today is the day that Microsoft has unleashed the Surface 2 and Surface 2 Pro on the world, with UK retailers John Lewis, PC World & Currys, Game and Argos all stocking the two tablets.

In the US, Microsoft decided to hold a few midnight launch events to ensure its customers didn’t have to wait until the morning — turns out it wasn’t very popular, with just a few enthusiasts at the Microsoft Store in the Westfield Centre mall in San Francisco according to CNET.

Of course the US and the UK are not the only markets receiving the Surface tablets today, with Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States all offering the device as of today. China will begin offering the Surface and Surface 2 Pro as early as next month.

If you’ve forgotten pricing, then a 32GB Surface 2 will set you back £359 ($449) whilst a Surface 2 Pro will begin at £719 ($899).

If you want to pick up some accessories for the two tabs, then the Touch Cover 2, the Power Cover, the Surface 2 docking station and a USB car charger are also on-sale now.
