Microsoft buys Gears of War franchise, new game coming

Gears of War now belongs to Microsoft.

The Epic-developed game series has been bought up by the Xbox One-maker, which appeared exclusively on Xbox 360 last generation, before coming to PC. This will obviously put to bed rumors that the series would come to PS4 and the One in the future.

That does mean that Epic will bid farewell to the franchise. Instead a new game (hopefully on the Xbox One) will be developed by Microsofts Black Tusk Studios. The last Gears of War game, Judgment, was released last year on 360.

It’s pretty exciting news for a franchise that has remained shrouded in mystery for the past year.
