LG X Fast is a mid-range device that wants to be a flagship

LG X Fast is the latest flagship edition to their mid-range series, however it features hardware specs that are a lot more premium than the others.

The LG X series has been traditionally known for its mid-range handsets, with solid offerings such as the LG X Screen. The LG X Fast is the latest handset to be added in the range and on paper, it’s identical to the LG X Mach that was launched in western markets not long ago. Both of these devices are kind of unusual in the X series because the hardware represents much above what you would typically consider a mid-range handset.

In terms of design, it’s rocking a poly-carbonate finish with metal trim. They’ve obviously saved money in the design somewhat but it’s still nonetheless a reasonably attractive device. The rear of the handset has 2.5d curved edges, which we’re sure will give it a nice feel in the hand.

LG X Fast is on a par with the LG G4

With a 5.5-inch Quad HD panel and Snapdragon 808, it has a lot in common with last year’s LG G4. It’s a potent combination and the additional 3GB RAM should be plentiful for most users. Much like the LG G4, they’ve also moved the volume rocker and home button to the back, with what appears to be a fingerprint sensor baked into it.

In terms of shooters, there’s a 12.3 megapixel rear camera which has phase detection autofocus, plus an additional 8 megapixel front camera. The device is capable of recording videos at 4K resolution up to 30fps and supports dual SIM, one of which doubles as a microSD slot.

This is all backed up by a large 3,000mAh battery. The device will run on Android 6.0 (not the latest version), with the LG UX skin on top.

Pricing and availability is still yet to be confirmed, though we doubt it will ever reach western markets since we already have the comparative LG X Mach. The device will launch officially on August 30th at an event in Taiwan.
