A new LG smartphone has leaked online under the moniker of the LG G3 Beat, leading to speculation that it is the mini version of the flagship handset.

The device’s specs certainly attest to that rumour. A leaked photo from a Chinese source (see below) shows that the Beat comes with a 5-inch screen with 720 x 1,280 resolution.

Meanwhile, previous rumours have suggested specs will include a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. It’s also expected to feature an 8-megapixel camera and 2,300mAh battery.

As is usually the case with rumours, it is probably best to remain at least a little skeptical about this new leak. Mainly due to the fact that a 5-inch screen doesn’t really constitute a mini phone (in fact, it’s still larger than the 4 inch Apple iPhone 5S). Not to mention the fact that previous rumours regarding the LG G3 Mini have stated that it will come with (a more realistic) 4.5 inch screen.

So far, it is still unclear whether the Beat is a China exclusive or not. Speculation in the past has suggested that the LG G3 Mini will be available via AT&T in the US, and an international release would therefore certainly be on the cards too.
