It may have only been just yesterday that the LG G2 was officially announced, but those of you hoping to get the pure Android experience will be left sorely disappointed. The company today has announced that it won’t be launching a Google Play Edition of its new flagship anytime soon.

LG has packed its G2 smartphone with a lot of software upgrades, so it’s clear that the company doesn’t want its customers to lose that experience.

Although there may be a glimmer of hope, with an LG representative saying that the decision “could change down the road.”

Google has been pushing OEMs into creating pure Android versions of their devices so that customers can get upgraded to the latest version of the OS long before the standard versions. So far both HTC and Samsung have released Google Play Editions of their flagships.
