Huawei has today unveiled a trio of MateBook laptops and 2-in-1 devices, refreshing the series which first debuted at Mobile World Congress last year.
UK pricing is to be confirmed for the three devices but will range between ¬999 (£864) – ¬1,399 (£1,210). This is the second range launch for the MateBook series, last year Huawei gave the MateBook 2-in1 its debut at Mobile World Congress.
MateBook X
The MateBook X is the flagship of the range, measuring 13-inches and powered by seventh generation Intel Core i7 or i5 processors. It boasts an 88 per cent screen-to-body ratio and 4.4mm bezels. The 2K display is made of Corning Gorilla Glass and features an all-metal design. An interesting feature of the MateBook X is that the laptop is completely fanless, so it will be interesting to see if the thermals can cope. Other features include a fingerprint sensor, 41.4Wh battery and Dolby Atmos Sound System.
Prices start from ¬1,399 (£1209) for an Intel i5, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD storage. The ¬1599 (£1,382) model will get an Intel i5, 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage. The top-of-the-range model costs ¬1699 (£1469) and includes an Intel i7, 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage.
The MateBook will be available in gold, grey and rose gold.
MateBook E
The MateBook E 2-in-1 seems to be the closest successor to the MateBook from last year. The keyboard has a hinge that can be adjusted up to 160 degrees. It is powered by the power-efficient Intel M and i5 series processors. Much like the original device, the MateBook E will be compatible with MatePen, though it’s currently unconfirmed whether it will be included. Other features include a 33.7Wh battery, fingerprint sensor and MateDock 2.
Prices start from ¬999 (£863) for an Intel M3, 4GB and 128GB SSD storage. The ¬1,199 (£1,036) model will get an Intel i5, 4GB and 256GB SSD storage. The top-of-the-range model costs ¬1,299 (£1,123) and includes an Intel i5, 8GB and 256GB SSD storage.
The MateBook E will feature in blue, brown and pink.
MateBook D
At the bottom of the range is the MateBook D which represents a more traditional laptop. It’s a 15.6-inch aluminium notebook measuring 16.9mm in thickness with 6.2mm bezels and an 83 per cent screen-to-body ratio. It packs in a bunch of connectivity ports including a 3.5mm headphone jack, two USB 3.0 ports and a USB 2.0 port, as well as a HDMI port. You’ll also get the choice of either Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, plus an NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics card on select models. Other features include a 43.3Wh battery.
Prices start from ¬799 (£690) for an Intel i5, 8GB RAM and 1TB HDD storage. The ¬899 (£777) model will get an Intel i5, 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD storage. The top-of-the-range model costs ¬999 (£863) and includes and Intel i7, 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD storage.
