Just as expected, Huawei today  revealed  its newest Android-powered flagship smartphone – the Ascend P7 – at an event in Paris today.

The Huawei Ascend P7 features a design that’s similar to its predecessor, the  Ascend P6, but the new model boasts a more robust specs list.

On the outside of the Ascend P7 there’s a 5-inch 1080p display, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with panorama mode and a 13-megapixel rear shooter with an f/2.0 aperture.

Housed  inside the Ascend P7’s slender 6.5mm frame is a 1.8GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage and a 32GB microSD card slot. Also included is 4G LTE connectivity, Gorilla Glass 3 on both the front and rear and a 2500mAh battery to power the device.

On the software side of things, Huawei has preloaded the Ascend P7 with Android 4.4.2 KitKat alongside its own Emotion UI 2.3. The device also includes several custom Huawei goodies, such as Image Signal Processor (ISP) that gives control over camera features like autofocus, white balance and noise reduction.

The Huawei Ascend P7 will be sold in black, white and pink at a price of ‚¬449. The device will launch in several countries in May, including China, the UK, Germany, Italy, France, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates. Huawei says that the Ascend P7 will hit other markets later on, but it didn’t provide any specifics.

Overall, the 8MP front-facing camera sounds like the biggest selling point of the device, especially if you’re a group selfie enthusiast.
