HTC could be prepping Butterfly 2, leaks suggest

Is the Butterfly 2 incoming? HTC’s Butterfly isn’t the most well known of the company’s handsets, sitting in the shadow of its flagship One model despite boasting a respectable set of specs of its own along a water resistant design. It came to Japan first in late 2012 and has been creeping out to other markets like Russia and the US since.

Leaks that cropped up earlier in the week strongly point towards the existence of the device’s successor, the HTC Butterfly 2. Images slipped onto the net, showing the phone’s new design (above). While there’s not much of particular note, it does look like the Butterfly 2 takes a page from HTC’s Windows Phones, and will come in white, black and blue. Rumoured specs include the likes of a 5.2 inch 1080p display, Boom Sound speakers, and that ever-popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset.

As for availability, we have absolutely no idea if this will ever reach the UK. We’ve recently reported on one or two issues that HTC has been having, so perhaps a new market for this type of phone isn’t on the company’s mind right now.
