We’re still waiting for the day that we get to fix Google Glass to our own eyes. Until that time though, the device continues to make big strides towards completion. Today we’re hearing about new advances for the device’s Glassware.
The company is now accepting third-party apps from developers. Google is reportedly looking at these apps for design, usage and privacy, making sure they don’t breach any standards. Successful apps (referred to as Glassware) will then show up on the MyGlass Hub. It sounds pretty similar to what we’re all already used to with smartphones and tablets, then, just… on your face.
A checklist of requirements is available for those starting to work on the device. That’s available here. The news is accompanied by the addition of five brand new apps for Glass, including SportsYapper, Fancy, Mashable, KitchMe and Thuuz.
As we pointed out on this week’s podcast, Glass excites us. It has the potential to be the next big thing after the rise of tablets, and Glassware should bring about a whole new age of exciting software. Philips recently gave us a glimpse of how Glassware apps might look with this look at its medical software.
