Not to be outdone by Apple’s announcement that it is launching the world’s first 64-bit smartphone, Samsung’s mobile business chief JK Shin has announced that it too will be bringing 64-bit processors to its phones — with the Galaxy S5 likely to be amongst the first to feature the technology.

Whilst it’s not yet known what the benefits of a 64-bit processor on a phone is, with experts claiming that it will only really benefit devices with higher memory loads.

Apple however claims that it will make the iPhone 5s up to twice as fast as the iPhone 5, coupled with that updated A7 of course.

Samsung evidently sees promise in the architecture too though, with it likely to be a big feature of the next Galaxy S device, namely the Galaxy S5. The co-CEO did say that we shouldn’t expect it in the near future though.
