Delay hits Android apps tool for Windows Phone

Microsoft has confirmed a tool that allows Android apps to be used on Windows 10, has been delayed.

The software is called Windows Bridge for Android (AKA Project Astoria), was revealed earlier this year in Microsoft’s attempt encourage app makers to easily convert Web, iOS and Android apps to Windows. Although developers have complained that it’s not yet available.

Project Astoria forums have gone quiet and Microsoft have removed the Android subsystem, from the last Windows 10 Mobile preview. Signalling it may have been made redundant.

Lacking apps has always been the problem for Windows Phone, with the release of the Lumia 950 looming Microsoft will be looking to increase their stake (3%) in the market.
