DayZ is a game that started life as a mod for the army simulator Arma II. But in its year of existence it’s proved so popular that it recently got a standalone release on Steam. Now that release has revealed its sales stats, and they’re pretty darn impressive.
Developer Bohemia Interactive revealed that the game sold some 172,500 copies when it went on sales on December 16th. While CEO Marek Spanel admitted this was very exciting, he noted that there was a lot of hard work ahead to fix bugs and other issues that are currently effecting the game.
Still, it’s nice to hear of something that started out so small becoming something so big. A round of applause for Bohemia and DayZ.
