Apple Watch pre-orders will be an online exclusive! Bad luck for those who want to buy in store!

Yes, you read that right. While you can still head in store to try the watch out, Apple has now confirmed that those who are ready to lay down some serious cash will have to go through the online channels.

Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Stores, Angela Ahrendts had this to say:

“We are excited to welcome customers tomorrow and introduce them to Apple Watch, our most personal device yet. To provide the best experience and selection to as many customers as we can, we will be taking orders for Apple Watch exclusively online during the initial launch period.

Ahrendts confirmed that while orders should still be placed online for now, the watch should be available in store from April 24th.

This news comes shortly after the leak of an internal memo which hinted at Apple pushing for less customers to purchase in sore and instead buy online.

Speaking to staff, she wrote:

“The days of waiting in line and crossing fingers for a product are over for our customers. The Apple Store app and our online store make it much easier to purchase Apple Watch and the new MacBook. Customers will know exactly when and where their product arrives. This is a significant change in mindset, and we need your help to make it happen. Tell your customers we have more availability online, and show them how easy it is to order. You’ll make their day.”

Pre orders for the watch open up at 8.00am tomorrow, here in the UK.

If you’re still unsure wether spending your hard earned wages on Apples latest piece of kit, then you’ll be able to play around with demo versions from tomorrow in a handful of locations, including Selfridges on Oxford Street.
