Android 7 Nougat finally sees an official release, with Nexus users receiving Google’s latest operating system, via an OTA update.
It seems the leaks were correct, yesterday was the day Android 7 Nougat was bestowed upon the world. Nougat was in a beta preview for five months and now you should be seeing the update pop up on your Nexus device.
The following devices are confirmed by Google to receive the update: Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and General Mobile 4G.
The update may not appear straight away as some network carriers will receive the update later than others.
Android 7 Nougat sweetness
The update brings a whole host of exciting features that you will not find on iOS devices. Multi-window allows two apps to operate in tandem on screen, so you can refer to Chrome while editing a document. Direct replies will be universal to all apps, not just Google’s messaging apps. Doze mode was a feature introduced in Android Marshmallow and has been improved further, with the improved Doze mode, smartphones will know when it’s in a bag or pocket, and save even more power.
